This is what those cute little desk top fountains can do close range...

...this does not demonstrate what it can do to your brain activity but inside the brain, signals are being rapidly transmitted which increases neuronal activity because the brain is replicating the sound going into the ear and increases speech patterns.  The louder the noise is, the more it affects the brain externally due to doppler.  Doppler is when sound waves spread out from it's source and can bounce off other objects or is absorbed by other objects.  Prolonged exposure can cause an alteration in the human skull and brain tissue.
