The parents carry and clean up their childhoods as best they can, sometimes they need help. The child is born and inherits what is up top and all its content, the parent moves into the adult position, the children grow up and repeat the process. Most of what is acted out is cleared but this kind of acting out can become unsafe. Many times entanglements happen too, and the parents should recognize this, sometimes they don’t. During the times of slavery, some Africans and Asians acted in this capacity for the landowners. Once the landowners got bumped up they were in unknown territory. That is they often didn’t know the history of their parents or their parents were entangled with others and their history was lost. This is how I think some slaves were beaten while others were taught to read and write. Had they known of Shakespeare the issue of abuse would have been averted to safer circumstances. In 1988, I drove my red Ford Escort into the woods and yelled and screamed my head off. In 1999 I walked into the woods at the park in Carrboro and beat the heck out of a tree with a tree limb. This is averting a problem. We do need to see this on film, we don’t need to see someone being beaten because we will repeat this age old habit we no longer need. I still see women now slapping an hitting their children. It hurts me and sometimes I say something but many times it is best to just report it to someone who can intervene. Before the playwrights caught on, abuse happened and some instances of non-abuse were turned into abuse and punishment. Sometimes, it was more a matter of over-controlling than of teaching.
