Corporate capitalist oppression…?

In this way, Fromm argues, freedom can actually create submission and the destruction of individuality.

I disagree.  This is likely a capitalist view in support of oppressing individuality.  Only a weak oppressed individual will fear breaking the ties of home to seek his or her own way.  The history of the settling of America is proof of this.  The pilgrims who came here were certainly hardly fearful.  They broke ties with their native country and came here not knowing what they would be facing.  Land of the free, home of the brave.
